How much are the classes and how does it work?• Group class - $42 for 60 minutes group class, full payment for a set of 10 classes is due before the first day of class. • Private class - $45 for 30 minutes private class, full payment for the term (e.g., 13-18 classes) is due before the first day of class.

How can I pay?Cash or e-transfer, or cheque is accepted.

Are make up lessons allowed?Yes, 24 hour notice must be provided for any schedule changes to qualify for a make-up class. For private classes, a maximum of two make-up classes are allowed per term.

Can I pay per class rather than commit to a term?Yes you can but will not receive any discount and will need to pay a higher rate of $48 per class. You are welcome to sign up for a free trial before you commit to anything.

Is it too late to learn piano?No, it’s never too late to learn a musical instrument. Playing the piano has many benefits for improving cognitive functions such as memory, focus, pattern recognition and is also a great way to distress and relax after a hectic work day.

When are the group classes?Monday to Thursday from 6pm to 10pm.

Are group classes or private classes a better fit for me?Group classes are best for the majority of beginner students who learn at an average pace and practice less than three hours per week . Those students who are at the extreme end (e.g., musically gifted students who learn at a very fast pace or very slow students who require a lot of extra support) would be better suited for private classes.

Do I need to bring a keyboard to class?No, keyboards are provided in class.

When do the classes start?New classes start when there are 5 new students ready to enroll. This usually happens once a month.

How much should I practice each day?Aim for at least 20 minutes per day if you want to see progress and more later on as you develop your musical skills and repertoire.

How many students are in a group class?Two to five students per group. Classes will run when there are at least two people per group after you sign up.

How old can my child start piano?We only accept students who are at least 4 years and older on the day of the first class. They must be able to concentrate on a single task for at least 15 minutes.

How much practice should kids do?General guidelines are at least 15 minutes per day for 4-5 year olds, 30 minutes per day 6-8 year olds, and longer for older children when they are preparing for exams and competitions.

Do I need a keyboard or piano to start?Piano and keyboard are provided in class but you will need one for home practice.

Where can I get a keyboard?Long and McQuade Music rents and sells new and used keyboards.

Which type of instrument do you recommend?Acoustic piano is always the best instrument to learn with but weighted digital keyboard can work. A fully weighted keyboard can help you develop the right technique for playing piano. I would recommend the Yamaha P45, P125 or 115.
