During the pandemic, there was a surge in online piano courses and apps, many of which claimed that subscribing to their services would transform you into an exceptional piano player in no time.

Our adult semi-private group classes are a great way to start.

Rates:

10 week session $430 per 60 min (2-4 students per class)

$45 per 30 min (private class)

$45 per 60 min (semi-private drop-in class)

In reality, what happens is that you can barely read music, your rhythms are totally off and you have no idea what you are doing with technique. There's no feedback mechanism so you have no idea if you are  improving or developing bad habits and dependency on using the app.

Most apps only focus on teaching students to play the same simple song and skip all the foundation.  There are tons of gaps which make it harder to play the music that you want to learn. 

 

Without learning proper technique, knowing how to break things down and having a solid foundation, it makes playing challenging and non-musical.

Over the years, I have taught numerous adult students and designed a comprehensive 10-week, in-person piano course focused on building a strong foundation in piano playing. During the first month, we concentrate on essential skills such as technique, patterns, coordination, movement, rhythm, and fluency in music reading before diving into songs. My goal is to ensure students develop a solid mastery of these core elements, as they serve as the pillars for any musical style they choose to explore. For adults with prior piano experience, I offer classes tailored to various skill levels, ranging from beginner to advanced.

All classes are a one-hour session designed to cover a broad range of piano skills, including:

  • Technical patterns and exercises

  • Sight reading

  • Rhythm training

  • Aural (ear) training

  • Music theory

  • ​​Improvisation

  • ​​​​​​​​Playing sheet music

  • Writing music

  • Harmonization exercises
